6,000+ coffee cups saved from the landfill.

Sustainability can be many things to many people, this project focuses on reducing the amount of single use cups that end up in the landfill. The City of Denver has awarded Blue Sparrow Coffee with a Certifiably Green Business Grant to help get more reusable cups in the hands of our neighbors. We are using 100% of the grant funding to offset the cost of the reusable cup. The initial cost of the cup is $32, and it comes with a $50 gift card to Blue Sparrow Coffee. To help inspire change, the gift card can only be used with the BSC x Gandy reusable cup.

We throw away 600 BILLION single use coffee cups each year. In 2023 1.2% of Starbucks customers used reusable cups and in 2023 Blue Sparrow customers used reusable cups 21% of the time. If every Blue Sparrow customer used reusable cups we would have avoided tossing 167,743 cups in 2023, and an estimated 200,000+ in 2024. Within 2 years, we hope the majority of Blue Sparrow customers will utilize reusable cups.
